5 Reasons You Need a Website.

You cannot possibly be serious about being a writer if you do not have a website that you control. Every writer needs their own website.

Here are five reasons why you should trust me on this.

1. Your website should have your biography, your experiences and your writing credits. Even if you haven’t yet published you can still include samples of your work on your site. If you have published you can include links to that work. Most of today’s queries are done electronically so it is far easier to include a link to your website for back up support and information than it is to mail reams of paper to editors, clients etc.

2. Having a website will assist you in your writing because you will have an outlet for your creative work. Your website doesn’t have to be about the field you normally write in. When you write about hobbies and other subjects you expand your writing skills and possibly pick up work in those areas as well.

3. You could use your website, or a part of it at least, to showcase your talents in your main field. A listing of work you have done and clients you have worked for can support your application for further work. Some demonstration of your education and other experience will also help. Properly done these articles and other writings will get you some exposure in the search engines for the keywords related to the subject.

4. Your name is your brand as a writer and you need to find ways to keep your name in f4ont of those people who are looking for the type of work you do. Having your own website is like having your own advertising hoarding for prospective clients to find. The more articles and other writing you have scattered around the Internet the more likely it is that they’ll find you.

5. You can make some money directly from your own website. You can write and sell short reports on any subject you choose, you can add ads of various types to your site for click-through income. Sometime this income can become quite substantial, particularly if your writing is good enough to attract good traffic.

As you can see there really are good reasons to have your own website. The best type of website for a writer is a blog. If you are not familiar with that word it is the short form of web log which is a type of online diary. The advantage of a blog is that they are very easy to set up and run and require no technical skills to get going.
