Mr Bearly is on Holidays.

Writing competitions always seem to bring out the best in people.  Particularly if they begin it when the competition is announced.  Pressure can do wondrous things to your writing.

I have noticed that there is always a core group of people who will just modify a story they have previously written to enter a competition.  They either shorten it or pad it to fit the required size, make other small changes to fit the content type and away they go.

I guess that doesn't matter a lot but I feel, in the spirit of the competition, you really should write something new.

So, holiday theme, short story say 1500 words maximum, deadline TBA.

Remember, Frankenstein was written by Mary Shelley (wife of Percy) when they were on holiday as a competition between all the other writers who were also on holidays.

She ended up more famous than her husband, must have annoyed the crap out of him.

Don't see yourself as a writer?  Write anyway or become one of the esteemed judges.

As I said at the beginning, Mr Bearly is on holidays.  He is in Robe SA and has already seen a fur sea on the beach while walking this morning.  I'll post some photographs later, forgot to bring the camera to the librabry.

I now have the makings of a story, beach, fur seal, heavy sea fog lets see what I can do with this.  It'll have to be a later post as I now have to go eat and then go visit Cape Jaffa and perhaps some wineries.

Holidays are such fun.  More 'ron.
